About Integrity Watch Afghanistan
Integrity Watch is an Afghan civil society organization committed to increase transparency, accountability, and integrity in Afghanistan.
Integrity Watch works with local communities, officials, public representatives, and private sector actors to fight against corruption and empower citizens to act with integrity and demand accountability from all actors making decisions that stand to have an impact on their lives. Integrity Watch trains and mentors members of local communities to monitor humanitarian aid and education and healthcare service. It conducts policy-relevant research to better inform decision-makers and Afghan citizens in this regard. Integrity Watch works closely with civil society organizations to build their technical capacity to oversee humanitarian aid and provision of healthcare and education services, and to strengthen their internal organizational practices. Integrity Watch engages in evidence-based advocacy for the adoption of policies and practices that increase transparency, accountability, and integrity in Afghanistan.
Job Summary
The Field Surveyor will support a data collection project, collecting data across many fields relating to humanitarian assistance and development. The field surveyor will be trained, equipped with tablets, and assigned sites to monitor, collect data, translate, and electronically enter into the designated system.
Duties & Responsibilities
1. Attend online training, or if needed, travel to Kabul and attend in-person training on data collection (qualitative and quantitative), building rapport, research ethics, informed consent, data confidentiality, data cleanup, and data entry;
2. Coordination with the relevant authorities, to process the letters and get the required authorization for site visits;
3. Perform the necessary coordination with IP (Implementing Partner) on the field, and the IWA office about the site visit;
4. Upload the site visit tools (questionnaire and monitoring checklist) on tablets or smartphones;
5. Travel to allocated districts to project sites and perform necessary observations, in-depth interviews, taking pictures, recording sound, etc;
6. Translating the data collected and entering the data electronically in the designated system;
7. Follow procedures and protocols in collecting and recording data, ensuring confidentiality and security of data at all times;
8. Verify data for accuracy and completeness. Conduct follow-up interviews as necessary to obtain missing or incomplete data;
9. Follow and implement guidance/instructions provided by the data quality control specialist and the project manager. Report any issues or concerns to the data quality control specialist;
10. Fulfill any other tasks requested by the supervisor with the general scope of work of the position.
11. Be willing to travel and perform monitoring and data collection in the following provinces: Kabul, Parwan, Kapisa, Panjshir, Logar, Maidan Wardak.
Job Requirements
Education:
Bachelor degree in social science, sociology, economics, health, business administration or any other related field.
Experience:
At least 2 years experience in data collection, survey, monitoring, in-depth interviews, and FGDs;
Experience in administering smartphone/tablet-based questionnaires;
Good interpersonal, communication, and analytical skills.
Good verbal and written communication skills in Dari or Pashto are required, and working knowledge of English is preferred;
Ability to work with a flexible schedule;
Ability to work under stress, pressure, and limited timeline;
Duration: 1 Year, consultancy-based contract, the Field Surveyor will be compensated depending on the number of surveys completed per month.
